By tradition, the gates of the wine cellars on the historical winemile will open again for the 54th performance of the well-known and popular Kellerweg-Fest in Guntersblum.
We, the municipality and the association “Verkehrsverein Guntersblum”, invite you to experience the “wine festival with the special touch” from August 18th to August 20st and for the “gleaning” from August 25th to 26th and bid you welcome.
On five days with a varying programme, you can relax and enjoy wines in the idyllic atmosphere along the Kellerweg winemile.
Numerous wine cellars and wine stalls invite you to linger and savour.
Taste the charme and high quality of more than 400 wines, sparkling wines and seccos originating from Guntersblum’s vineyard sites.
Also from the culinary point of view, you won´t go short.
Our local cuisine will tempt with regional specialities from Rheinhessen, and complete the balanced range.
The diverse music performances in the cellars will put you in good mood.
From pop, rock and jazz to the latest charts – there will be the favourite music for everyone.
Within the scope of a small ceremony, we receive our guests of honour on Friday, August 18th, and open the wine festival.
This event starts at 6 p.m. and takes place on the scene of the Julianenbrunnen, which is in the middle of the Kellerweg.
The programme is musically framed by Guntersblum’s music association “St. Julianen“ („Guntersblumer Musikverein St. Julianen“) as well as by the Kellersänger (“cellar singers“), until Rheinhessen‘s regional wine queen, Laura Lahm, inaugurates the Kellerweg-Fest officially at about 7 p.m.
A further highlight will be the big aerial firework display, which will unfold at about 10:15h p.m. above the Kellerweg.
The Kellerweg-Fest’s Sunday traditionally starts at 10a.m. with a worship service, this year in cellar no. 63 (wine house Reineck-Baltz).
Starting at 11 a.m., you will hear Frühschoppen music in cellar no. 1 and at the Julianenbrunnen place.
Further vocal numbers and music groups can be heard in the different cellars along the Kellerweg.
But this is by far not everything the festival’s Sunday has to offer.
From 2 p.m. on, the wine waiter Dirk Freier will present his ability and expertise once more.
On this occasion, the focus will be on wine and aromes.
An interesting and exciting story will give us new insights into the world of viticulture.
For our younger guests, a varied children’s programme will start at 2 p.m.
Everywhere in the Kellerweg, there will be enjoyable games as well as a balloon contest in which you can win interesting prizes.
None of the young guests will for sure feel bored.
Specially for our guests from the Riedgemeinden in Hesse, the motto for a further Rhein ferry’s campaign day will be: “Die Fähr‘ fährt“ again (”The ferry leaves“ again); between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. (extra late opening hours), the ferry continuously leaves the Kühkopf island to translate to Guntersblum’s bank.
A shuttle service brings the ferry guests from Guntersblum’s jetty to the market place – there and back.
All in all, an enjoyful Sunday full of life which offers something for each guest.
On both Saturdays, between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., our guests will have the opportunity to take part on guided, conducted tours through the vineyards, equipped with ”Weck, Worscht und Woi“ (=regional motto meaning “rolls, sausage, wine“).
On both Saturdays and on Sunday, there are further offers as guided tours through the village (from 4 p.m. on) and – for the first time -, cellar tours and tours through the Kellerweg (3 p.m.), as well as a guided herbal tour on the first Saturday (from 2:30 p.m. on).
We are happy about the fact that this year, our friends from Guntersblum’s French twin town, Saulxures-lès-Nancy, will act as representants of our jumelage in their own cellar again (no. 26). They create a wonderful intercultural atmosphere by means of their tasty delights from Lorraine, which represent an enrichment for the regional wines and food.
In an agreement with the Rhein-Nahe-Verkehrsverbund, there will be extra tours with the Deutsche Bahn to well far after midnight, so that our guests will be able to enjoy Guntersblum’s wines and get home safe and sound. What is more: This year as well, the “Kellerweg-Fest-Express“ will pick up our guest from neighbouring villages and bring them back safely again.

We wish our guests from near and far some relaxed, enjoyable and wine-related, eventful days, and we are looking forward to many interesting discussions and meetings at the festival, where guests become friends!
